AI dashboard narrative insight
Custom Insights
Custom insights are user-tailored analyses and visualizations that enable users to create personalized reports beyond standard offerings in data analytics platforms. They allow for the creation of specific metrics, custom visualizations, and targeted data segmentation. Users can design these insights to address unique business questions, uncover particular patterns, and create reports for various stakeholders.
AI Insights
AI insights are automated insights that are produced automatically by artificial intelligence algorithms that scrutinize large datasets to detect patterns, trends, and anomalies. Leveraging machine learning and various AI methods, these insights yield data-driven observations and forecasts that might not be obvious to human analysts. AI insights can reveal hidden opportunities and risks, enhancing the overall understanding of the data.
Steps to use the Narrative Insights feature:
Step 1: Click on “Custom Insights.”
Step 2: Choose the specific chart from the options to view insights related to that chart.

Step 3: Select the desired date range, frequency, and the date column for the data analysis, such as trend, change and forecasting.
Step 4: Choose the analysis type that suits your requirements to generate insights. You have the option to select one or multiple analysis methods.
Step 5: Now click on “Run Analysis.”

Step 6: You can see the top 5 narrative insights derived from the KPI. To view specific insights, simply choose the desired insight type from the top, such as change analysis or trend analysis.
Click on “See more” to access additional analyses.

Step 7: Each insight includes a feedback feature represented by a thumbs-up and thumbs-down icon. After you select a response, a confirmation message will appear, and your selection will be highlighted.

Note: Selecting the thumbs-down icon asks to write a detailed review and a suggestion for improvement. Alternatively, you can choose to skip this step and continue without providing feedback.
Step 8: Click on “Publish” to publish the dashboard.
Step 9: Enter the dashboard name and select the workspace. Then, click on “Publish” to continue.

Step 10: After publishing the dashboard, you’ll find the “Insight” option on the designer page. It allows you to view insights alongside the KPI again.
You’ll find two options:
- Custom Insights
- AI Insights
Note: Users can generate AI insights directly for a specific chart by clicking on the insight button located at the top of that chart.

Case 1: On selecting Custom Insights.
Users can view the custom insights for charts generated before publishing. By clicking on a KPI, users can expand it to view both the KPI and its associated insights.

Note: Users can share insights and provide feedback from this page after publishing.
Case 2: On Selecting an AI Narrative
- With just one click, the user can access and select a KPI to generate insights. The AI will then process the data and provide the user with the generated insights and recommendations.
- Provide consent for the use of your data to generate AI insights. Insights can be generated only after consent is given.
- Click “Generate.”

- Select “Regenerate” to generate another version of the insight in case you need it rephrased or want the insights refreshed as per filter changes.
- Regenerated insights can be viewed by scrolling down. Each time the insights are regenerated, they will include details such as the date and time.

- Click the save icon to save the insight. After saving, the user can toggle between the current and saved insights.

Note:
- Only one insight can be saved at a time.
- When embedding a dashboard or a specific chart, all associated saved insights are automatically carried over and embedded in the destination system. To know more how embedding works, click here.
- Users can enter a prompt in the provided space to modify the insights.

Step 11: Users can switch between AI insights and custom insights with just one click.
