Dynamic filtering

Estimated reading: 2 minutes 2275 views

The dynamic filter option in Lumenore allows users to filter data interactively in real time based on selected criteria. Advanced filtering enables viewers to customize their information display in real time. Users can tailor the presented data to match their immediate requirements by selecting specific parameters.

Let’s use an example to explain how to use dynamic filtering.

Step 1: Select the ellipses (three dots) located at the top right corner of the measure.

Step 2: Now click “Create/manage What if parameters.”

Step 3: Click on “Create new.”

Step 4: Please complete all the details in the screenshot, including the Parameter name, data type, unit of measure position, slider minimum and maximum values, slider steps, and default value.

Then click on “Save.”

Note: For the dynamic condition, choose the data type as decimal.

Step 5: Drag the “category” attribute to the chart filter since we’ve generated a chart displaying total sales and profit categorized by each category.

Step 6: Specify the condition details; the condition should be “Top/Bottom N,” select the type as “Dynamic,” and pick the previously created “What If” parameter. Then, choose the value upon which you wish to apply the filter.

Click “Save” to proceed.

Step 7: The KPI displays the top 1 category based on total sales. This count results from choosing the default value of 1 when setting up the “What-If” parameter, which can be set according to the requirement.

Step 8: Click on “Design Dashboard.”

Step 9: You can modify the default value again by choosing “What-if.”

Step 10: Click “+Select what-if parameter” and choose the parameter.

Step 11: Enter your preferred value. For instance, we’re setting the value to 4.

Output: The KPI displays the top 4 categories based on total sales.

Note: Following the above-mentioned steps, you can make the same changes even after publishing the dashboard.
